Things I Hate About the Web (#422)
Posted on August 2nd, 2007 No commentsYou know what I hate about the web? Sites that make you sign up, with a username and password, and giving them your email address, just to download a stupid utility. Sure, they have the right to do it, but really? I mean, come on, just let me download the 48.1 kilobytes and be done with it.
It gets better, though, when they helpfully email your password back to you in a plain text message. Nice job!

Use bugmenot.com.
Provides passwords for just about every compulsory registration. I generally use it for news sites that require registration, but I tested the one listed for vmtoolkit and it worked.

You know what I hate… blogs that make you give a name, e-mail, & security code just to post a comment 😛
