I am 54 yrs. old and I started getting the flu shot when I turned 50. I got so sick with the flu (2) weeks later, I thought I was dying. I got the flu shot again the following (2) years, get sick as a dog with the flu exactly (2) weeks later. Last year, I did not get the shot, I did not get sick. I realize the shot is not a live virus, But I can only say that I guess I am not a candidate for the shot. I read the pamphlet that the government puts out on the flu shot, and it states that the flu shot takes (2) weeks before it becomes effective. Strange huh? I don't have any illnesses or diseases. I'd never given much thought to getting the flu vaccine before, but after doing some research on it, I'm going to get 'em too. Work usually offers them for free, to boot.
