Real work, with Java?  This must be some new use of the word &quot;Work&quot; that I&#039;m unaware of ... ;-)  Me, I think Java&#039;s the fucking nuisance, and you&#039;ve appointed the blame wrong.  Kill it, not IPv6, and there&#039;ll be hope for you when the time comes.  And don&#039;t pretend it won&#039;t.  Disabling IPv6 solves nothing, it just works around breakages you&#039;ll solve later on, at cost.  You want to be an aid to the solution, so do what you can to make it work.  When you do, others will, and the actual, real, tangible benefits of IPv6 will be everybody&#039;s to share.
